Cotton reels, crockery and crafting at The Button Tin vintage haberdashery in Rotherham

It was an aunty that first told me about The Button Tin. Over a cup of strong English tea in a nearby café she told me about a little Victorian arcade hidden away where it felt like you were stepping back in time; a secret shared, of course I was completely spell-bound and we made a visit later that day.

Gemma is foremost an artist but also a prolific collector of vintage haberdashery and a skilled craftswoman. She is also generous of spirit and shares her knowledge of crafting and love for creating unique gifts and accessories with anyone who wants to join in her workshops.

The glass atriumed space she uses is a vintage gal’s dream with lovingly collected sewing machines, crockery, fabric swatches, cotton reels and candy coloured glassware filling the light and airy space.

Gemma is running some of her classes throughout July, have a peek here for more details.
